Transportation Routing Excursions

Excursions are scheduled Monday thru Friday, but are limited by equipment and labor availability. The trips should be scheduled between the hours of 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  Departure from site could vary depending on destination.

The entry of the request, approved by the principal or appointed designee, must be received by the Transportation Department at least ten (10) student/teacher contact days prior to the anticipated excursion date.  Request must be signed by the school principal or the principals' appointed designee.

The Transportation Department will provide an excursion calendar identifying "closed excursion dates" at the beginning of the school year. These calendars should be reviewed by each school's staff to allow for improved excursion planning. Contact the excursion coordinator for further information (720-423-4621). Transportation Services personnel will not accept excursion requests scheduled for "no contact", "holiday", or "early dismissal" days. Excursion requests for the new school year can not be accepted until that school year officially begins.

Costs for excursion buses are $105.00 per bus. Some excursion charges may vary due to the location of the school versus the destination. Summer School excursions will most likely be at the hourly rate plus mileage. Please refer to the zone listing for cost estimates, or call (720-423-4621) for more information.

Note: Zone costs cannot be split and costs must be paid by account number. Please use the account numbers below for excursion allocations:

Elementary Schools --- 10XXX11001000000851
Middle Schools --- 10XXX11002000000851
High Schools --- 10XXX11003000000851

For planning purposes our normal size school bus can seat 65 elementary students. An adult would occupy two spaces.  As an example if 3 adults were riding on the trip there would be room for 59 average elementary students plus 3 adults.

Middle school students plus adults would be 52 seats per bus. Adults would be counted 1 adult for 1 space.

High school students plus adults would be 48 seats per bus.
