Transportation Routing

In an effort to maximize/optimize the use of our buses, we try to use the same bus to transport students for both middle/high schools and elementary schools. Routes are developed using the SMARTR automated routing system.  As a rule, drivers typically clock in around 5:30 a.m. and pick up middle/high school students arriving at the school at approximately 7:15 a.m.  The same driver then repositions to pick up elementary students so as to arrive at school approx. 8:45 a.m.  The majority of drivers then drive back to the terminal and punch out around 9:15 a.m..  This same process starts again at approximately 2:00 p.m., only in reverse. We refer to this as double tiering.

To provide a valued service to our customers as efficiently, effectively, and safely as possible and at least cost.
